As a musician, Rob plays piano, guitar and sings. He was the musical director, co-writer, arranger, performer and co-producer for Barbershopera Productions Ltd, an award-winning company which enjoyed success at the Edinburgh Festival, in London’s West End, on tour in the UK and abroad, and with two radio plays adaptations commissioned by BBC Radio 4. He released an album, Stories of Ourselves in 2012, co-produced Renee Cullen’s debut album Small Town Girls in 2023, has played with the top function bands in the UK (including as part of the official Royal Wedding Band 2011) and was a lead piano / vocalist at the Pianoworks in London for five years. He was a professional actor-musician and musical director for years (York Theatre Royal, Birmingham Rep, Nuffield Southampton).

As a songwriter, Rob has written songs for E4 (Playing It Straight), CBBC (Officially Amazing - BAFTA nominated) and CBeebies (Let’s Go Club!) as well as composing songs for theatre at Nuffield Southampton (Merlin), York Theatre Royal (Sherlock Holmes) and Unmythable / Norsesome (UK Tour). He has written four children’s cantatas for the Cookham Festival and MGSO4 Festival as well as a number of freelance corporate songs (Boots, Vibe, Amersham Life Sciences).

As a teacher, Rob is currently Director of Drama & Dance at Downe House school in Berkshire. He ran the Pop Module at Rose Bruford College for four years, led arts education projects with Theatre Is and Mousetrap Theatre Projects. He previously ran the Limelight Project with young offenders and ‘NEET’ students for Broadland District Council. He has been a freelance music and drama teacher for 17 years.

He lives in Berkshire with his wife Zoe, two daughters, one cat and one dog.
